Designers entering the Recycle Runway competition will create wearable art made of items destined for the landfill or recycling. Participants will become knowledgeable about problems associated with waste generation and then express them through fashion and artistic design.
The deadline to enter has been extended to July 6, 2015. The garment does not have to be completed until the photo shoot on Aug 1, 2015 and the designer does not have to be the model.
2013 Annual Membership Dinner is a Success
Keep Pearland Beautiful hosted its annual Membership Dinner on Thursday November 21, 2013 at Golfcrest Country Club. Over 60 participants attended the event, which highlighted KPB programs during the 2012-2013 program year, as well as featured guest speaker Council member Scott Sherman, who addressed the topic of “Engaging with your City Council.”
KPB also honored 9 board members who rolled off the board in the past two years: Laura Austin, Helen Beckman, Kathy Duplissey, Janet Eastburn, Richard Eskuchen, Theresa Jordan, Kay Powers, Helen Todd, and Marjorie Wilcoxson. KPB would like to thank each of them for their dedication and service to the Pearland Community and Keep Pearland Beautiful. These honorees continue to serve as KPB volunteers and some have agreed to serve on the KPB Advisory Committee.
KPB also thanked the 2012 – 2013 Board of Directors, and welcomed the 2013 – 2014 Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Advisory Council, led by our new President of the Board, Ms. Debbie Cooley. Executive Director Sherwin Sun presented the KPB Annual Report to the membership. A copy of this report can be found on the KPB website (www.mykpb.org – http://keeppearlandbeautiful.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/2013-KPB-Annual-Report-Small.pdf).
