Beauty and Serenity Can be Found Outdoors at St. Helen Catholic Church
Every month we send volunteers driving all over Pearland to look for beauty to nominate for our monthly Business Beautification Award. For 10 years Keep Pearland Beautiful has been recognizing area businesses, neighborhood associations and churches for their community greening and beautification efforts. The May 2014 Business Beautification Yard of the Month is St. Helen Catholic Church.
The entire campus has been awash in blooms and their addition of “Mary’s garden” has given St. Helen a wonderful contemplative outdoor space. St. Mary’s Garden is symbolic of the stations of the cross and includes a large statue of La Pieta, a fountain, and several beautiful pots. Give yourself a few minutes to walk through. It is on the side of the church surrounded by a fence. It’s truly a beautiful journey.
Behind the school building along the fence between the church and school district property border there are some wonderful raised beds built and maintained by St. Helen Catholic School Children. Everywhere around the entire St. Helen campus efforts have been made to create attractive landscaping. Look at what the middle school students have done and you will be impressed.
The business yard of the month committee appreciates input from the community so please check our list of past awardees (http://keeppearlandbeautiful.
