Cigarette Litter Awareness Day a Success!
On February 25, 2012 at noon, seventeen Keep Pearland Beautiful volunteers and 3 staff members continued the attack on cigarette litter. The “Don’t Leave Your Butt Behind” cigarette litter awareness campaign consisted of 7 teams that targeted eight intersections or “transition points” in our city. This year the 17 volunteers and 4 community service workers picked up 12,500 butts in a 2 hour period; our goal was to create awareness of the problem, not to eliminate the “butts”. Each volunteer received a KPB brown “hoody” plus pizza for lunch and lots of camaraderie. Remember that every day is earth day in Pearland and one of the ways to take care of the earth is to pick up litter wherever you find it!
