Creative designers participate in Keep Pearland Beautiful inaugural Recycled Runway Fashion Show

Keep Pearland Beautiful held the inaugural Recycled Runway Fashion Show on Sunday, August 9th from 4-6PM at the Pearland Town Center Pavilion.  A crowd of 80 people gathered to watch contestants model their outfits made from recycled and reused material. With dresses made from empty juice pouches, newspaper, bubble wrap and soda tabs, contestants pulled out all the stops to impress the panel of 3 judges.

Keep Pearland Beautiful thanks Adanary Jacques of Luz de Luna Studios (www.luzdelunafoto.com) for photographing the Recycled Runway Fashion Show on the day of the event.  We look forward to adding a link to the entire gallery after she finishes processing them.

The Recycled Runway Fashion Show Program was funded in part by the Youth Resource Library Grant Program funding received from Keep Texas Beautiful. Funding for this grant came from H-E-B and Central Market. A collaboration between KPB and the Dawson High School Fashion Club the Recycled Runway Fashion Show Program started with the release of the rules and advertising for contestants starting in May 2015.  Participants got points for attending monthly workshops, turning in a recycling factoid and received their final scores from judges the day of the runway fashion show.

KPB thanks the sponsors of this new program for their help: Dawson High School Fashion Club- Mrs. Dunham and Ms. Jourdan and their students, Stadia Sports Grill Pearland Town Center- Manager David Shetsky, Pearland Town Center, Courtyard Marriott, Luz de Luna Studios (located at 708 Telephone Rd, Suite A in Houston, Tx)- Adanary Jacques for sponsoring the event photography and donation for the door prize, Stella Roberts Recycle Center, BJ’s Restaurant for donating gift cards and StyleMe Resale- Regina Beam.

The three judges (Regina Beam- StyleMe Resale, Melissa Washington- Consultant for J. Hilburn, and Shawnte Thomas- Orange Theory Fitness) gave up their entire Sunday afternoon to interview the participants before the runway show and judge the runway portion of the fashion show.  Kevin & D’Arcy Murphy did a great job as the emcees for the runway show.

KPB thanks Bianca Springer of Thanks I Made Them, Sew Can You!” for her demonstration and sharing with the public how easy it is to sew before the fashion show.
