A “Zero Waste Event” according to Wikipedia is one in which event organizers plan ahead to reduce solid waste from the event, reuse various elements such as banners, and set up Zero-Waste Stations for those recyclable and compostable materials such as paper cups, food scraps, and plastic water bottles that are generated by the event. Zero Waste Events can range from large-scale sports events to weddings and small parties.
There are a lot of great resources for putting on a Zero Waste Event.

Keep Pearland Beautiful held the Pocket Pear Environmental Scholarship Fundraiser Event on June 27, 2015 and although we didn’t try to make it a zero waste event we did manage to recycle 90# of glass and plastic. KPB created a reusable event banner, email invitations and re-create table decorations from recyclables and reuse them from year to year. Perhaps our next event can be a zero waste event.
