Stella Roberts Recycling Center Volunteer Program
KPB will be implementing a Recycling Center Volunteer Program April 2017. Recycling Center volunteers will be trained to safely assist the Recycling Center team in a variety of activities. On the job, volunteers will continually learn ways to improve their own recycling habits and better educate the community on recycling right! No special skills are required to volunteer and volunteer assignments will be tailored to individual abilities.
Volunteer Program Information
Volunteers, (18 years or older), will attend a KPB/Recycling Center orientation session led by a KPB staffer and will sign a volunteer agreement and liability waiver. At the beginning the volunteers will be asked to work on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eventually, volunteers will be able to sign up to work in shifts between the hours of 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. Volunteers will be trained by Recycling Center staff to assist with activities including unloading and counting cars, sorting and bagging batteries, packaging cartridges, separating aluminum, operating the paper shredder, and operating the vertical baler. Friday volunteers may be asked to assist with the school recycling pick ups. Safety training will be provided for each activity. Volunteers may choose to work a limited set of activities depending on their abilities.
The program volunteer program will begin in April and then will be expanded through broader communications during the summer. We need your help in recruiting volunteers for the pilot program. We would like to build a solid volunteer group to pilot the program and provide feedback to improve the program before we publicize it to the community.
The first volunteer orientation will be held on March 31, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. Email [email protected] to signup for an orientation and to receive the releases and volunteer application. KPB looks forward to seeing our volunteer pool grow!
