HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ITEMS ACCEPTED:

  • Flammables such as oil based paint and paint-related products
  • Oxidizers such as pool chemicals
  • Corrosives such as acids and certain cleansers
  • Batteries (including Alkaline)
  • Motor oil, filters and cooking oil
  • Latex paint
  • Antifreeze
  • Poisons like insecticides and fungicides
  • Fluorescent bulbs (tubes and compact)

TIPS FOR PAINT DISPOSAL

  • Paint must be in original container. (i.e. no plastic food containers, milk jugs, mason jars etc.)
  • Empty plastic paint cans will NOT be accepted, these can be put in your garbage.
  • Pour 1/2 full cans of paint together to make cans full; no longer accepting numerous 1/2 full cans of paint
  • Paint with dried paint layers no longer accepted, these can be put in your garbage.

TRANSPORTING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

  • Make sure the containers are not leaking
  • DO NOT combine your hazardous materials into a plastic bag. This will almost always cause a leak or spill. Leaking or spilled materials will not be accepted at the Recycling Center.
  • DO NOT leave ANY materials at the Recycling Center while the center is closed.

WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT HAZARDOUS MATERIALS FROM:

  • Businesses
  • Non-Profit Organizations
  • City, County or State Organizations/Departments
  • Landlords

ELECTRONICS (Accepted Tuesday-Saturday):

  • Computers, Monitors, Printers, Printer Cartridges
  • Televisions
  • Cell Phones
  • Microwave Ovens
  • Appliances

ITEMS WE DO NOT ACCEPT:

  • Tires
  • Lumber / Plywood / Furniture
  • Fire Alarms or other Radio Active Materials
  • Tree Trimmings and Yard Clippings
  • Medical Waste
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Plastic Grocery Bags
  • Commodes (Toilets)
  • Cement
  • Spackling
  • Joint Compound

The Stella Roberts Recycling Center collects a donation from non-residents (outside of Pearland and Brazoria County) of $1 per pound for Household Hazardous Waste and $0.50 per pound for Electronics.

  • Residents include citizens of Pearland and Brazoria County for electronics and household hazardous materials disposal.
  • Residents outside of Brazoria County will be able to drop off televisions and computer monitors with a donation to KPB of $.50 per pound
  • Residents outside Brazoria County will be able to drop off Household Hazardous Waste with a donation to KPB of $1 per pound
  • Residents of Pearland wishing to bring Household Hazardous Waste or Electronics will be required to provide a current copy of their water bill.
  • Residents of Brazoria county must provide a valid id with their current address on it.
